There are a lot of things to consider when wedding planning, such as the wedding theme, the decor, the outfits, the food, and most importantly, where your wedding will take place. Nowadays, weddings can be hosted practically anywhere, from the beach, to a quaint chapel, and even on top of a cliffside mountain. Before you can book a venue or schedule dates, you will need to consider whether you want your wedding ceremony, and after-party, to be held indoors or outdoors. From the wedding decor, to organizing the wedding band, it all depends on the setting of your wedding, and whether it is inside or outside. Today, we will discuss the pros and cons of both indoor and outdoor weddings, to help assist you in this big decision.

Indoor weddings

Weddings indoors have been a Western tradition for years, especially within churches and chapels for the ceremony. No doubt, holding a church ceremony has a certain classic charm to it, and has us dreaming of fairytales and princesses. A huge pro for indoor weddings is that you will always be prepared for unpredictable weather conditions, and protected come rain or shine. This is a real advantage if you live in a cold or extremely hot climate. Therefore, you will have control over when you set the wedding date, giving you the freedom to host your special day during any month and season! Another pro is that indoor ceremonies and receptions create an intimate, personal atmosphere, allowing you to mingle among your guests with ease and comfort. We also love the creative independence indoor weddings can allow; you may have the freedom to choose your decor, flowers, backdrop, and even lighting, for those magical wedding photos!

Despite an indoor wedding's appeal, there are some downsides of hosting this type of wedding. One of the most prominent cons of indoor weddings is that they can be extremely costly, especially if you covet a specific theme and need to attain a lot of decorations, flowers, and lights. This also leads onto the next con, which is indoor weddings tend to be limited in size and space compared to outdoor weddings. If you have a lengthy wedding guest list, you may need to re-think this, as extra chairs, tables and food can add up to a hefty price. Alongside this, keep in mind the venue may not even be able to hold over 150 to 200 people, so be sure to prepare in advance.

Without a doubt, outdoor weddings can be extremely enchanting, unique and elegant; perfect for couples desiring a destination wedding! A major pro of hosting an outdoor wedding is the cost compared to an indoor wedding. Outdoor venues around the world are unquestionably scenic and stunning, which is a huge bonus, as backdrops are naturally included, meaning you will save money on decor! Therefore, you can keep the wedding theme simple and minimalist, as the location, exotic surroundings, and of course you, the happy couple, are the main focal points of the ceremony. We also love the natural lighting outdoor weddings offer, which is another massive pro. With an exquisite backdrop behind you, and the natural lighting, your wedding photos will come out looking incredible!

On the other hand, there may also be some problems that come with holding an outdoor wedding. One of the main cons is facing unpredictable weather conditions on the day. The weather can be extremely changeable, depending on where you host your outdoor wedding, which can be a serious problem if your area has a high chance of rain, strong winds or snow. It may be sensible to have a tent, or another venue as a plan B, in case of such event, however, this may be a costly alternative. Another con of an outdoor wedding is that you may need to obtain a special permit if the location is a protected place, such as a national park. You will need to ensure you have all of the documents prepared for in advance if this is the type of setting you desire.
